Kurla to Kunkgu

This painting is called “Kurla to Kunkgu” which means “Father to Son” in the Kalkadoon language.

The Kalkadoon people have ruled the emu foot province for at least the last 40,000 years and have been connected to their lands through their dreaming stories, songs and art. The boomerangs and spears represent the weapons they have used to hunt and provide food for their families for thousands of years and the handprints represent this knowledge that has been passed down from father to son from generation to generation.
