The Bilby – Karlu

My name is Chern’ee Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland. This painting is called “Karlu” in the Kalkadoon language which means “Bilby”.

This painting tells the story of how the bilby only comes out from her burrow at night time to forage and gather food under the moonlit sky.
