Family - Malthaaya

My name is Jesse Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from Mount Isa in Queensland. This painting is called “Malthaaya” in the Kalkadoon language which means “Family”.

This painting is my interpretation of the many generations that have come before us and passed down knowledge, culture, traditions, history and bloodlines over the last 65,000 years.

The community symbol represents our communities and the place that knowledge is shared which keeps us connected to our lands and each other.

This painting can be hung landscape or portrait - your choice.
